If you're not 100% clear, hire a coach and get clear.How, then, do managers transcend from a traditional, transactional approach to leadership, in which the manager negotiates with the subordinate: "Do this, and this is what I'll give you." Often, these are not explicit conversations, but rather implicit understandings. The employee knows that if he does 'this and this,' and not 'that and that,' he'll receive something in return. Does this method of 'leadership' build commitment from staff? Does it enroll the individual in a common mission and vision? Or is it oriented more towards compliance and implicit consent of not rocking the boat?My student was having a dilemma about his choice of career path. He had boldly gone with his heart, soul and spent his bank account on his dream. After blood, sweat and tears, he sadly returned home empty handed. He asked me why he would want to do something so badly, only to have it blow up in his face? He did learn a valuable lesson, he made some new friends, but at the end of the day, the project just didn't work. But why?Create templates. Emails, letters, forms and other documents that must be created or updated frequently can be systemized. For any new document, first review what already exists. Then copy, adapt and pull from previous efforts.Go to Barnes & Noble (either in person or virtually) and scan what books are showing up in the Training / Instructional Design field. It is always good to know about the references, especially if you are called to do a project and you can locate some good resources for current projects.To get started as a distributor for it, you need to buy a starter kit. The starter kit can include any number of incentives. The cheapest starter kit is one hundred and thirty dollars. The starter packages go all the way up to seven hundred and twenty dollars. Something is amiss here. In none of the packages do they include startup samples, or bottles of limu. This company is out to make a profit and it seems like it is off of the backs of people who are trying to work for them.If you love watching video, find a training class built with video tutorials. If you enjoy reading, find one with illustrated, well-written manuals. The program should match the way you like to learn. You shouldn't have to twist yourself into a pretzel to learn new skills just because some Instructional Design thought it had to be like that.2-Utilize trackers!! Tracking your progress is imperative. In fact, many development project Clients have seen that tracking alone increases productivity by 10% or more, without implementing any other changes. When you've implemented something new, whether it's a new marketing strategy or perio program, using a tracker will allow you to see what's working and where you need to make adjustments. If your hygiene team is presenting the perio treatment but it's not showing up on the tracker as completed, then you know you need to look at how you're admin team is presenting financial arrangements or if the schedule is allowing those patients to be cared for quickly.After a short while, "Jane", a petite young woman, came to greet me and invited me into her office. She asked me the usual interview questions we are all familiar with: what type of work I had performed in the past, what were my strengths and weaknesses, what was I looking for in a position, and so on. She paused for a moment and inquired after my education: a Master's Degree in Human Resources Management, two Graduate Certificates in Organizational Development and Instructional Design, and a PHR (Professional in Human Resources) Certification. She also noted I was pursuing yet another Master's Degree in Liberal Arts - which is more of a personal growth goal to me.Invest in your Leadership Development. Books, podcasts and teaching videos cost a lot. But consider them as an investment, in which you will reap the benefits of greater effectiveness and efficiency in your leadership. And when you become a better leader, you can certainly lead people to greater heights and better performance. In this program, the key element responsible for my growth as a leader was the feedback they built into the experience. I didn't always receive it gracefully, but it changed my life.This is obvious stuff and most people who study marketing in depth, know it. However there are only a very small percentage of coaches, development project Clients and entrepreneurs who implement it and define their Unique Selling Proposition so that they successfully connect with their target market.
